Who are JIN?

Foundation Joint Implementation Network (JIN) is formed by:


Catrinus J. Jepma

Jepma (17K)   Prof. dr Catrinus J. Jepma LL.M
  is currently professor of International (Environmental) Economics, appointed at the   University of Amsterdam, the University of Groningen, and the Open University, the   Netherlands. Since 2005, he holds a chair on Energy and Sustainability at the   University of Groningen and is scientific director of the Energy Delta Research Centre   (EDReC) of the same University. His fields of specialisation are: Energy economics,   International environmental economics and International economic policy   coordination. He was a.o. convening lead author, coordinating lead author and lead   author of the IPCC Working Group III SAR, TAR and FAR respectively. He was the project coordinator of a large number of research projects - including the PROBASE project - and advises various bodies - including the Netherlands government - on various issues, including energy and climate policy issues (e.g. ERUPT and CERUPT). He currently chairs the National Working Group on Clean Fossil Fuel and Carbon Capture and Storage and CNG for mobility, and is actively engaged in the national energy transition management plan towards sustainable energy systems. He published a large number of scientific articles and books, and is in the editorial board of a number of scientific journals. He is editor-in-chief of the Joint Implementation Quarterly.


Wytze van der Gaast

Gaast (13K)  Wytze van der Gaast MSc.
  is senior researcher at JIN and editor of the JIQ. He has participated in the research   projects carried out by JIN on Activities Implemented Jointly and the Kyoto   mechanisms and was one of the coordinators of the PROBASE research project   (2002). From 2003 to 2005, he participated in the SYNERGY project "Business   Opportunities for CDM Project Development in the Mediterranean." From 2004 to   2006, he was involved in the Asia pro-Eco programme project on "Establishing an   EU-Asian dialogue on the CDM: capacity building and identification of project   opportunities." In 2006, he participated in a study project within the context of the   EU-Thailand Economic Cooperation SPF on the impact of the CDM Linking Directive   for Thailand (coordinated by ERI, Thailand). During 2006-07, he is member of the coordinating team of ENTTRANS - a project on the diffusion of sustainable energy technologies to developing countries via the CDM (EU Sixth Framework Programme) and is a Ph.D candidate at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Groningen.


Eise Spijker

Spijker (21K)  Eise Spijker MSc.
  is a graduate from the University of Groningen and joined Foundation JIN in 2005. He   has been involved in a variety of research projects on energy and climate related   topics, mainly covering economic and policy issues. Throughout his work he has   gained specific knowledge on the functioning and optimisation of electricity and gas   markets and is active in the area of carbon capture and storage (CCS), a.o. in the   preparation of an advice to the Netherlands Government on CCS opportunities in the   Netherlands. Currently, he is participating in a research project for innovative   incentive structures for biomass- and waste based conversion technologies. Other   activities involve knowledge transfer in the area of sustainable mobility and the   Kyoto Protocol flexibility mechanisms.


Anna van der Gaast - Witkowska

Anna (17K)   Anna van der Gaast - Witkowska
  graduated from the University of Wroclaw in Poland. She has a master degree in   English language and culture. Within the JIN team, she is editor of the Joint   Implementation Quarterly.
